How it works
Studying and playing hockey in Sweden involves several different parts, from choosing the right university and degree program to finding the right hockey opportunity and preparing for your move to Sweden.
Bluechip acts as your Family Advisor throughout the entire process. We guide you and your family from the first evaluation and planning stages through university applications, hockey opportunities and the practical preparations for your move to Sweden.

The Bluechip Process
1. Initial Consultation
We start with a Zoom meeting with you and your family to learn more about your academic background, hockey experience, goals and expectations. We also explain how studying and playing hockey in Sweden works and answer your initial questions.
2. Become a Bluechip Client
If you decide to move forward, you sign the Bluechip Service Agreement and Bluechip becomes your Family Advisor throughout the process.
3. Evaluation & Planning
We review your academic background, hockey experience and goals and begin identifying suitable university programs, locations and hockey opportunities in Sweden.
4. Player Profile & Hockey Material
Together, we prepare the player information and hockey material needed to professionally present you to suitable Swedish clubs and hockey contacts.
5. University Applications
We guide you through the Swedish university application process and help you apply to suitable universities and degree programs based on your academic background and goals.
6. Hockey Opportunities & Club Contacts
Bluechip identifies suitable hockey opportunities and uses our network in Sweden to connect with relevant clubs and hockey contacts based on your background, level and goals.
7. University Admission & Final Decision
Once you receive your university admission decisions, we help you evaluate the complete picture, including the university, degree program, location and hockey opportunities, before making your final decision.
8. Accept Your University Place
Once you have made your decision, we guide you through the next steps required to confirm your university place and prepare for the next stage of the process.
9. Residence Permit
Bluechip guides you through the residence permit process and helps you understand the requirements and steps involved in preparing your application.
10. Housing
We guide you through the housing options available in your university city and help you understand the alternatives and next steps.
11. Prepare for Sweden
Before departure, we help you prepare for your move with practical information about living and studying in Sweden, travel, insurance and other important preparations. Our support continues after you arrive, so you and your family have someone to turn to during your time in Sweden.

When should I start the process?
We recommend starting early. The more time we have to evaluate your academic and hockey opportunities, the more options we can explore together.
Is hockey placement guaranteed?
Every player and situation is different. Bluechip evaluates your hockey background and works through our network to identify realistic opportunities that match your level and goals. Final decisions regarding roster spots are always made by the individual clubs.
Will Bluechip support me after I arrive?
Yes. Our relationship does not end when you arrive in Sweden. Bluechip remains available as a contact for you and your family during your time in Sweden.
