The landscape of college hockey in the US is changing
With changing NCAA rules, rising tuition costs, limited roster spots, transfer portal, and increasingly competitive recruiting pipelines have made families and players rethink what pathway to choose.

On the mens side when the NCAA in 2025 approved that the teams in CHL-Canada would be eligible to play college hockey it changed the whole college recruiting hockey scene. In 2025 41% of NCAA D 1 college recruits (426 players) came from CHL, 23% came from the USHL, 13% from BCHL and 9 % from the NAHL. 0% came from the NCDC!

This also meant that more great players are choosing to play NCAA D3 or ACHA D1 which make it even harder for players to get a roster spot on a college team.

For players that are being realistic of their future with education, hockey development and long term opportunity, coming to Sweden offers a great experience. Sweden is safe, one of the top countries in the world to live in, has top ranked universities, many Bachelor and Master degrees taught in english, a very high quality of life and one of the best hockey nations in the world.

You will also have the opportunity to travel throughout Scandinavia and the rest of Europe.

• Get your Bachelors degree and play for a club team in Division 1-3 while also playing hockey for the college in the SUHL (Swedish University Hockey League

• Get your Masters degree and play for a club team in Division 1-3 while also playing hockey for the college in the SUHL (Swedish University Hockey League)

Why Sweden?
A Bachelor degree is only 3 years in Sweden as well as in Europe and it is taught in English so you could also easily get your Masters in 4 years if you wanted to. The cost! -a Bachelor degree costs around $ 12-15000 approx a year for tuition, room and board is approx $ 9 - 10 000 per academic year so you can get an international top Bachelor Degree for approx $ 20 000/year ($ 60 000 approx in total for a Bachelor degree) which is the same cost as approx one year would cost at a college in the USA! Value for money plus the experience and adventure of a lifetime. 

As a comparison if you look at three different NCAA Div 3 universities in the US their costs are as follows:

Gustavus Adolphus College, MN: Tuition room and board per year: $ 72 500 plus books, supplies, personal expenses/spending money, etc.

New England College, NH: Tuition room and board per year: $ 65 000 plus books, supplies, personal expenses/spending money, etc.

St Norbert College, WI: Tuition room and board per year: $ 61 500 plus books, supplies, personal expenses/spending money, etc…
